The Nakra transfer tunnel connects the Nakra valley with the Nenskra valley and is approximately 12.5 km long by 3.5m diameter and will divert water from behind the Nakra weir and into the Nenskra reservoir.
The Nenskra Headrace tunnel follows the left bank of the Nenskra valley and is approximately 15.1km long by 4.5m. The tunnel connects to the surface penstock upstream of the Powerhouse at a level around 600m above valley floor level.
The Project comprises the development, construction and operation of Nenskra Hydro Power Plant with c. 280 MW of installed capacity and expected electricity output of 1,196 GWh assuming 50% load factor. The Project represents a significant infrastructural priority for the country and benefits of the highest support from the Government of Georgia (“GoG”).
