Labor and working conditions commitments
We maintain a harmonious working environment that is based on mutual respect, fairness, and integrity. To achieve this, we:
Provide safe and hygienic working conditions and suitable accommodation facilities, which meet applicable sanitary and hygienic requirements;
§ Take a hard line against any form of workplace discrimination, bullying, harassment, or physical assault;
§ Value diversity and treat all employees and contractors fairly;
§ Employ and promote employees based on merit;
§ Provide fair levels of remuneration;
§ Uphold the right of employees to freedom of association and collective bargaining;
§ Provide appropriate training and development opportunities;
§ Notify employees in advance about employment termination and make severance payments;
§ Prevent any form of child labor;
§ Uphold the right of employees to resign;
§ Provide suitable working hours regime in accordance with international ILO conventions and local legislation.
We strive to provide occupational health and safety and to operate a safe workplace that is free of injuries and fatalities. To achieve this, we:
§ Foster and maintain a positive culture of safety, behavior, and awareness;
§ Provide employees with personal and collective protective equipment;
§ Report, manage, and learn from injuries, illnesses, and high potential incidents;
§ Provide proper medical care;
We extend all the above commitments to labour contractors and other third-party employees.
Community empowerment commitments
We identify the communities and other stakeholders that might be affected by our operations and actively engage with them in a culturally appropriate and transparent manner throughout the life cycle of operations, to establish relationships based on mutual benefit and ensure community health, safety and security. To achieve this, we:
§ Obtain, before the commencement of works, the consent of affected people to relocation;
§ Provide an agreed compensation package;
§ Restore the livelihoods of affected people;
§ Prevent the exposure of communities to diseases linked with company activities;
§ Share the Project’s benefits with communities through establishing a Community Development Fund to support local initiatives that sustainably address the educational, economic, and social needs of local communities;
§ Provide employment opportunities to local communities;
§ Minimize nuisances to the local community from fleets of vehicles; reduce the risk of traffic accidents;
§ Execute downstream flood protection works;
§ Ensure a proper level of screening, training, equipping, and monitoring of workers providing security services;
§ Prepare and apply, if necessary, detailed chance find procedure.
The Project comprises the development, construction and operation of Nenskra Hydro Power Plant with c. 280 MW of installed capacity and expected electricity output of 1,196 GWh assuming 50% load factor. The Project represents a significant infrastructural priority for the country and benefits of the highest support from the Government of Georgia (“GoG”).
